Hundreds of women members of Maa Annapurna Mahila Committee of Gudianali Chandia Sahi in Dhenkanal Town under the leadership Debashisha Hota met Additional District Magistrate Judhistrir Dehury, demanding RORs in encroached Government plots to 27 ST, 9 SC and 9 OBC landless poor families. Besides they demanded a tin-sheet roofed four-room office of the self help group now forcible occupation of a person.

The committee urged fulfillment of the demands by April 25 and threatened an indefinite dharana in case of lapses.

Here noteworthy that, the Mahila Committee is manufacturing papad, badi , incense stick and spices. However, its office land has turned controversial without patta.

On December 19 last, one Chandrasekhar Mohapatra forcibly took possession of the rooms and threatened to kill anybody who will object him. The Mahila Committee members lodged an FIR in Dhenkanal Police Station the same day but police didn’t act.

Hence, on January 6, they complained with the Tehsildar, Dhenkanal Satrighna Kar to direct police to start criminal proceeding against Mahapatra and restore the rooms constructed on a Government plot. The RI, Sadar Sumant Behera visited the spot immediately, but didn’t submit the inquiry report. However, when he submitted his report, he deliberately avoided forcible possession for vested interest.

On further complaining, the Tehsildar immediately visited the spot along some police officials. During his visit some officials threatened to demolish homes in encroached Government plots of the hapless members.
