Upset over the noncooperation of the Odisha Association for Blind (OAB) in reinstating six blind people in the association building even after the order of the Orissa High Court, the victims on Friday sought intervention of the Governor urging him to direct the Khordha district Collector to file a contempt petition against OAB officials.
Staging a demonstration near the Raj Bhavan, the blind people decried the apathy meted out to them by OAB office-bearers like Prasant Kumar Bhuyan and others.
“As per the High Court order, the Khordha Collector directed the OAB authorities to reinstate the six blind people in the OAB building. But the Prasant Kumat Bhyuan and his associates is not executing the order thereby violating the HC order,” said Prakash Mohapatra, one of the victims.
He also alleged that Bhubaneswar Sub-Collector Vinay Dash was showing undue favuor and creating hindrance in implementing the HC order.
The victims urged the Governor to direct takeover of the OAB building and ensure law and order at its premises with immediate effect.
Also, they requested the Governor to direct the Government to terminate the grant-in-aid to the association.
later, a delegation submitted a memorandum to the Governor to this effect.
