Shelter home illegalities: BJP urges Guv for probe

Published on:

The BJP on Monday urged Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal to order for a proper investigation into the illegal functioning of shelter homes by the NGO Good News India in the State.

A party team met the Governor and submitted a memorandum to him in this regard.

“It is alleged that illegal activities like sexual harassment, illegal human trafficking, religious and illegal transaction of foreign funds were taking place in the shelter homes run by the Good News India for the last two years. The Beltikiri shelter home shame has already come to the fore. These allegations need to be investigated properly and real culprits, with whose supports the shelter homes were running, should be brought to fore and punished,” demanded the team.

BJP senior leader Surama Padhee, State vice-president Sukesh Oram, secretary Dr Lekhashree Samantsinghar, Mahila Morcha State vice-president Smruti Patnaik, Niyati Giri, Kananbala Patnaik and Babita Patra were present.
