A day after the felling of the Shree Jagannath Daru at Kharipadia in Jagatsinghpur district, Maharana servitors started chaupata works (shaping of fallen neem tree to wooden logs) on Sunday.
Moharana servitors accompanied by many local carpenters have been engaged in chopping up the holy tree, making Sagadi (wooden cart) and dumping the unused parts of the tree near the Daru location.
A large number of people gathered thronged Kharipadia on Sunday to have a glimpse of the ongoing Daru rituals. Banajaga members broke up their two and half-a-day fast on Saturday night after the tree was cut.
Both chaupata and Sagadi making works would be completed by Tuesday evening and Sagadi Yatra would begin on Wednesday, informed head of the Biswakarma servitors Krushnna Moharana. Civil and police administrations have made elaborate security arrangements at the Daru site.
