Shaky Naveen dillydallies on Ministry reshuffle

Published on:

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday again hinted that he has no plan for a reshuffle in his Ministry for the time being.

“let us see in future,” he told reporters here when asked if he was going to make changes in the Ministry soon. Patnaik did not disclose whether it would be near or distant future.

It was about two months ago that Patnaik had first stated that he would have a reshuffle in the Ministry. This was before the State Assembly’s Budget Session began on February 22. And it was expected that the Ministerial changes would be effected after the Assembly session was over on April 7.

According to political observers, Patnaik is feeling shaky about a reshuffle in his Ministry as it would certainly displease a section of the ruling BJD leaders if they are removed from their berths and the aspirant ones are not included.

Patnaik cannot afford any kind of strong resentment among BJD leaders in view of the increasing pressure from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on his Government, the observers feel.

In fact, under the circumstances, Patnaik seems to have become weak during his fourth term as the CM in taking action against the Ministers and other BJD leaders who are known to be corrupt and who have been indulging in activities and utterances detrimental to the ruling party.
