Shah names Odisha several times in reply

While replying the most crucial debate on the resolution of annulment of Article 370 in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah cited instances of Odisha several times.

“Will the doctors from Odisha and Mumbai go to Kashmir, if they are not able to buy house in the valley,” wanted to know Shah in course of his reply.

Shah said this while referring to a ban on outsiders purchasing lands in Kashmir.

The Minister again took name of Odisha referring of marriage of Kashmiri girls. “If a Jammu and Kashmir girl marries in Odisha, will she and her children get rights in Kashmir?” He noted this while justifying removal of the Article-370.

While many people wonder as to why Shah frequently took name of Odisha,

political analysts are of the view that the BJP president is yet to get out of the election hangover.

Shah had set a 120-plus mission two win over 120 MLA seats in Odisha in the last elections. But the BJP got only 23 out of the 147 seats in the State Assembly.

Though Shah’s target was met in almost all States, he literally failed in the face of the popularity of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, whose party managed to grab 112 seats.

Observers also pointed out that the BJD’s unconditional support to the NDA in the Kashmir issue might have elated Shah to name Odisha several times.
