The Chandiposh police have recovered the skeleton of a youth, who was reportedly killed by his father-in-law and his associate in November 2013, from a hillside under its jurisdiction in Sundargarh district. The police have also arrested and court forwarded the two accused.
Acting on a complaint lodged the mother of Pritamjit Horo(23) of Tirubeda villager under Bisra police limits, the Chendipada cops conducted the investigation.
Sources said Pritamjit was in love with one Emlen Horo(20), daughter of Samuel Horo(50) of Kendubhati village under Chandiposh PS. Pritamjit and Emlen got married despite Samuel’s repeated warnings. Subsequently, they lived together at Pritamjit’s house at Tirubeda.
In November, the couple had gone to Birmitrapur for some work. Seeing Emlen, her uncle asked her to go with him to her house. Emlen agreed and went with him. After some days, Pritamjit went to his in-law’s house at Kendubhati village. Samuel soon played a trick and behaved with him very well.
The next day Samuel along with one Suleman Topno (28) took Pritamjit to a secluded place on a hilltop. They forced Pritamjit to drink and stoned him to death. They threw his body from the hilltop.
Pritamjit’s mother Biswasi Horo, who was working as a housemaid in Delhi, came to her village on March 5. As she did not found her son, Biswasi went to Samuel’s house and enquired about her son.
While Samuel said he did not know about her son, Emlen told her that her father and his associate have killed Pritamjit. On March 15, both Biswasi and Emlen went to Chandiposh police station and lodged an FIR.
A police team led by Chandiposh PS IIC US Naik went to the hillside and recovered the skeleton.
“Both the accused Samuel Horo and his associate Suleman Topno were arrested and forwarded to court on Thursday,” Nayak said adding that the skeleton has been sent for autopsy.
