A youth of lahunipada area under Sundargarh district was picked up from his marriage place by police on Friday while he was going to marry a minor tribal girl. The girl was rescued from his clutch, whom he had abducted and was trying to marry. The accused Dharanidhar Patra (26) alias Muna, a resident of Khutgaon Patra Sahi under lahunipada police station, who was working at Barbil, lured a minor tribal girl there. When the father of the girl came to know about her daughter’s affair, he arranged her marriage with another man, distributing invitation card for June 7 event. When Muna came to know it, he abducted the minor and confined her in another place. He made preparation for his own marriage for June 12. He invited his relatives and friends. On Friday, with crackers and band, Muna dressed up as a groom while was all set to marry the minor, a joint police team of lahunipada, Mahulpada and Barbil rushed to the venue and stopped the marriage.
