S'garh youth duped of Rs 95,000 by Assam women

A married youth of  Sundargarh after chatting with a girl and her sister-in-law of Assam was duped of Rs 95,000 since January last.

The victim youth lodged an FIR before the Sundargarh police recently. Police have registered a case and are now investigating the matter.

Sources said Mantu Sharma (31) of Sankara in Sundargarh runs a salon there. In November, 2015, Mantu had received a call in  his mobile from a girl from  Assam. Mantu had responded to her.

Thereafter, Mantu had started talking to her regularly. While talking,

that girl had also introduced her sister-in-law to Mantu and thereafter, Mantu used to talk with both of them regularly. They had identified them as Sultana and Anwar Begum.

Sultana had told that Anwar Begum was his sister-in-law (brother’s wife). After talking with them regularly over mobile phone, he had become very close to them.

Mantu had been so  attracted towards them that he had gone to Hiramati village of laxmipur district to meet them in December. Both Sultana and Anwar Begum had also treated him as their guest. Mantu had returned to Sundargarh in January.

Meanwhile, while talking to them on a day, they had  told that they were in urgent  need of money as the health condition of Sultana’s  mother, who is also Anwar Begum’s mother-in-law, was critical.  They had told Mantu that  they had a kg of gold and  they were desiring to sell it

at a very low price of Rs 95,000 for her treatment.

Mantu agreed to purchase the gold from them and accordingly had sent Rs 95,000 to their two SBI bank  accounts. After that when  Mantu tried to contact them  to send him the gold, they  had started avoiding him. Thereafter, when Mantu dialed them, they did not pick up his call. Finding no other alternative, Mantu recently lodged an FIR with the police.

“We have seized the two bank accounts of the women,” Town police station IIC D Murmu said.
