Two assistant teachers of the Raidhi Government Primary School in Sundargarh district were suspended on Monday allegedly for remaining silent over the sexual harassment of minor girl students by the school headmaster.

School headmaster Debananda Patel had suspended from school a week ago and he was absconded since then. Sundargarh Police is now searching him to arrest.

Sources said a group of guardians had met Sundargarh Collector Bhupinder Singh Punia in his grievance cell on November 30 and had brought allegation of sexual harassment to minor school girls by Patel. They had alleged that the headmaster have been regularly eve teasing the girls and also using filthy language, while taking class.

After inquiry, Punia had suspended the headmaster and also came to know that two assistant teachers Sanjay Patel and Maheswar Tandia knew about the sexual harassment, but remained silent.

“After inquiry, we have suspended two assistant teachers of the school, as they were remaining silent over the shameful act of the headmaster,” said lepripada block BEO Sarangdhar Bariah.

Three lady teachers were posted in the school.
