After a few days’ of lull, Sundargarh Sadar Congress MlA Jogesh Singh on Monday said he has once again received death threats from miscreants and the Sundargrh SP is involved in the conspiracy against him.
Sources said Singh had received death threats earlier for which his brother Ritesh Singh lodged an FIR at the Sargipali police outpost in Sundargarh district on June 9. The police registered a case and started investigation into the alleged matter.
In his FIR, Ritesh alleged that two persons, Sanjay Yadav and Sisir Samal, had made a phone call to his mobile threatening that they would finish his MlA brother by bombing as he is showing arrogance.
According to sources, there have been disputes between BJD leaders and the Congress MlA Singh over the contract work for the proposed NTPC thermal power plant at Darlipali under the Bhashma police station.
Earlier in the day on June 9, one Dipak Pandey along with six others had reached the proposed NTPC plant site and beaten up contract work supervisor Ajit Kumar asr he denied to stop work as per their order. They even showed a gun and threatened to kill him. Ajit then lodged an FIR in the Bhasma PS and the police registered a case against the seven persons.
Following this, one Sanjay Oram had lodged an FIR against Ajit Kumar and four other persons alleging that they beat him and tore his certificates into pieces when he went to them to seek a job in the contract work. The police too registered a case against the five.
MlA Singh had then met the Sundargarh SP and informed him about the threat and urged him to take stringent action against the threat callers.Addressing a press meet on Monday here, MlA Jogesh Singh said he has received threat calls again form the same accused persons and alleged that they dared to do for the second time as the SP has not remained silent.
“If I am attacked and anything happens to me, the Sundargarh SP will be held responsible,” Singh told mediapersons. To this, SP R Prakash said, “It is absolutely a baseless allegation. Our investigation and efforts are still on to nab the threat callers.” Meanwhile, the Youth Congress has decided to gherao the SP office on July 8 if no action is taken by police by then.
