S'garh MO held for graft

Published on:

Vigilance officials on Friday arrested Medical Officer in-Charge Sanjib Kumar Nayak and Attendant Dronacharya Rana of the Birkera CHC in Sundargarh district for demanding and accepting bribe from Mohammad Sarfraj of Sainsah village.

The complainant alleged that his Bolero vehicle was on hire at the CHC and the hire charges of Rs 1,20,000 from August to December was pending. He requested medical officer-in-charge Nayak to pass the bill. But Nayak demanded Rs 40,000 bribe for the purpose. When Sarfraj expressed his inability to pay the amount, accused Nayak reduced it to Rs 20,000.

With no alternative, Sarfraj reported the matter to Vigilance, following which a trap was laid. When attendant Rana was receiving the money from the complainant directed by Nayak, the Vigilance officials caught both the medical officer and the attendant red-handed.
