A minor girl of Sundargarh district who had allegedly been tortured by her father and went to New Delhi for doing work two days ago was rescued by the Nijamudin Government Railway Police (GRP) there on Saturday. The 16-year-old girl is now kept in the Child Welfare Committee at Kalkaji in New Delhi. The Sundargarh police after talking to the Nijamuddin GRP in New Delhi, informed the minor girl’s sister about her whereabouts and told her to go to Kalkaji to bring her back.

The girl, a resident of Kuanrmunda of Sundargarh district, had reached the Nijamuddin railway station on Friday. Being panicked, the girl met the Nijamuddin GRP and told them she came to work in Delhi as her father used to beat her at home. She later gave her sister’s contact number to the police, following which the police contacted her sister. Her sister later reported the matter to the Kuanrmunda police.
