A Junior Engineer (JE) of Bargaon block of Sundargarh district was  sent  to  jail for marrying second time without legal separation from his first wife as police served a notice to him, besides registering a case against him.

He was identified as Rajendra Behera, a native of Puruna village under Jharsuguda village, working as a JE in Bargaon block. Rajendra had married to one Manisha Behera, a native of laida village of Sambalpur district, in 2012.

According to complaint filed in Katrabaga police station of Sambalpur district, Rajendra had been torturing Manish regularly and on September 3, she had gone to her parents house, following a tussle between the couple. Although family members of Manisha were in contact with Rajendra and requesting him to take Manisha back home, he was ignoring the same.

According  to  sources,  Manisha and her family members came to know recently that that Rajendra had married to one Sujata Behera of Gurula village of Jharsuguda district, following which Manisha lodged a FIR in Katrabaga  police  station on Thursday. A team of police of Katrabaga  police  station with the help of the Bargaon police took the accused into custody.

"We have registered a case under Sections 498 (a) and 494 of the IPC and have served a notice to Rajendra Behera under section 41(a) of CrPC," said Katarbaga police station IIC Dolamani Bhoi. "We have also recovered all dowry items and handed over the same to his first wife Manisha," Bhoi added.
