Two minor boys of Sundargarh district, who had been abducted and trafficked to Chennai more than a month ago, were rescued from Vijayawada by Koira police and were handed over to their family members on Tuesday evening. The police arrested and court forward a youth in the case.
Sources said the two minor boys, aged 14 and 16 years, are cousin brothers from Raikela village under Koira police station of Bonei sub division. One Bhaja Munda(23), a resident of Nadisahi in RP colony under Koira police station, had met both on April 7 evening while their parents had gone outside and had lured them to dinner. Both the minor boys had gone with Bhaja but the latter took them to Barbil that night and thereafter took them to Bhubaneswar and thereafter to Balugaon. There he handed over them to another person, who allegedly took both the minor boys to Chennai. Bhaja had returned from Balugaon. While both the minor boys had not returned to their house that night, their family members had started searching them. The family members noticed Bhaja had written his own name on the wall of their house and had written his mobile number. The family members suspected Bhaja must have abducted both the boys. They tried to contact Bhaja but in vain. The family members lodged FIR in Koira police station against Bhaja on May 1.
The police nabbed Bhaja on Monday from Koira and interrogated him. A police team led by Koira police station IIC Arpita Khatua rescued the two minors from Vijayawada the same day.
