In a tragic incident, a 13-year-old boy drowned in Ib river at Dangaghat under the Sundargarh Town police station on Monday afternoon. However, another boy narrowly escaped as he was rescued by some locals. Sources said, two Class VII students of the Sundargarh Public School had gone to the river to take bath at around 1.30 pm. The river current floated them away. Some locals, who were at the bank then, seeing the two boys drowning jumped into the river but could rescue one of them. Being informed, the Town police and fire brigade staffs reached the spot and started a search operation. After an hour, they recovered the body of the missing boy, who was identified as Musaraff Raja (13), a resident of the Sundargarh main road area.
