Two teachers, including headmaster of a Government primary school in tribal dominated Nilgiri block, were suspended after a woman teacher (20) alleged sexual harassment against the duo.
They were identified as Jagdish Kumar Singh and headmaster Sunaram Singh. The action was initiated against the accused duo after the BEO conducted an inquiry following direction by district Collector Santan Mallick.
The victim failing to find relief from the school had approached the Project Director, SSA. The PD further brought the matter to the knowledge of district Collector.
The victim was appointed as multi language education teacher and teaching HO language in the school. She approached the headmaster alleging she was sexually and mentally harassed by teacher Jagdish Kumar Singh, but the latter remained silent.
The victim, a native of Hatichadak village under Karanjia of Mayurbhanj, got her first posting in Nilgiri in September last year.
BEO Malti Tudu said, “An inquiry revealed there was truth in her allegations after messages and pictures sent through mobile phone of the accused teacher were verified.”
