Tension gripped the Airhostess and Hospitality Academy (AHHA) here as girl students ransacked the college and beat the academy director and other staffs alleging sexual harassment and fraud in the name of campus placement.
The students broke the window glass and computers and other equipments of the college and physically assaulted academy director Dillip Routray and other staffs, including lady employees. The students were even seen slapping and kicking the staffers. “They destroyed our future. In the name of pxlacement, they are sending us to hotels for sharing beds. Though we are in airhostess profession, they (college authorities) are arranging jobs in hotel, hospitality and IT sectors at little salary,” said an aggrieved student.
They alleged that they have deposited Rs 1.53 lakh per student and were assured placement in airhostess and hospitality business. “When we are given jobs in hotels in and outside Odisha, we are being meted out sexual harassments. When we resisted, the authorities asked us for compromise,” alleged another student.
