After visiting the 10-year-old girl who is now five-month pregnant at her village at Krushnapur in Karamanga panchayat under the Telkoi police limits in Keonjhar district, a team of the Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee led by its president Bijaylaxmi Sahoo on Thursday apprised SC and ST Secretary Santosh Sarangi and sought Government help for her rehabilitation and smooth delivery of her child.
“After coming across a news item of sexual assault on the Class VII student in Krushnapur Girls’ Residential School, we visited the victim and found that she is now five-month pregnant. Her father informed us that they have fixed her marriage with a boy who is now working in Chennai, avoiding revealing the fact,” said Sahoo. “We want to know who is responsible for this offence. Since the girl is studying and staying at the residential school, we suspect somebody in the school is responsible for this. Hence, we demand a DNA test of the girl to unearth the truth,” said Sahoo.
