Finally, the HoD of the SUIIT (Sambalpur University Institute of Information Technology) served a show-cause notice to an Associate Professor, against whom a former student has brought allegations of sexual harassment.
He has been given 15 days’ time to give his replay, failing which action as per the law would be taken against him.
A former girl student, 14 days back, came to the SUIIT to inquire about how to clear her back papers. But an Associate Professor, on plea of guiding the girl, rather misbehaved with her inside his office room to which she protested. She came out of the room and started crying on the varanda. When another lady teacher saw her in this condition, the victim narrated everything. Then she made a written complain against the Associate Professor.
“As per the provision, we have served the show cause notice to the accused teacher and if the reply would not be filed in time or is not found satisfactory, then action would be taken against him,” said the HoD of the SUIIT Prof BK Mohanty.
