Odisha Chief Secretary GC Pati on Friday appeared before the Supreme Court personally and apprised the court about the actions taken by the State Government in the case relating to circulation of rape videos on social networking sites.
“A direction was issued for personal appearance today as no lawyer could appear on the previous date fixed by the Supreme Court,” the Chief Secretary told the media.
The court had summoned the top bureaucrat of the State to appear on March 20, but he failed to keep the date. Expressing anguish over it, the court had slapped a fine of Rs50,000 on the State Government and directed the Chief Secretary to appear.
