Even as the Commissionerate police have taken a number of measures to curb sex trade in the city, a high-profile sex racket operating from a spa under the Capital police station area was busted on Saturday.
Acting on a tipoff, police raided the H20 Spa Centre at Bapuji Nagar and held eight Thai women and seven youths, including the manager of the spa, in this connection.
Sources said the Thai women had come to India on tourist visas in 2017 and got into the racket. Police are on the lookout for the owner of the spa.
This was not the first time that foreigners have been engaged in a sex racket in the city. Earlier in November 2017, the Commissionerate police had busted a sex racket operating from the residence of an industrialist in the Kharvel Nagar area and detained three Thai women.
Similarly in March 2016, a woman from Kyrgyzstan had been detained by police for running a sex racket from a flat in the Chandrasehkharpur area.
