The Sea Beach police here on Sunday intensified a probe after seven human skulls were recovered from an isolated place behind the Kamala Devi Maternity Hospital near Ghoda Bazaar of Puri.
Sources said the skulls stuffed in a bag had been dumped by an unidentified miscreant.
The incidence came to light after locals spotted the skulls in the gunny bag and alerted police.
“After getting information, our team reached the spot and seized the bag. We have already started investigation and the miscreant will be nabbed soon,” said police official Biswajit Senapati.
Senapati further informed that as there is a graveyard near the hospital, such incidents had also been reported in the past. However, a detailed investigation would be conducted and the skulls would be sent for forensic examination, he added.
