The Commissionerate police on Friday in a bid to curb the flourishing sex trade in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, sealed seven hotels , two beauty parlours and two private houses in the twin cities.
Commissioner of Police Yogesh Bhahdur Khurania informed that out of the hotels seized, six are in the State capital and one is in Cuttack.
The hotels which were sealed in Bhubaneswar included Janata Palace, Maitri Guest House and Nirmal Palace. Similarly, Old Station Bazaar-based One Star Beauty Parlour and laxmisagar-based Khusub Beauty Parlour and a private house located on plot number 5016/F in VSS Nagar under the Saheed Nagar police station were also sealed.
In Cuttack, a hotel and a private house at Ranihat was also sealed by the police.
“These hotels, houses will be sealed for one year. If they (owners) want to give their establishments on rent after one year, they have to take prior permission of the Commissionerate police,” said Khurania, adding that fresh action would be a big jolt to others who facilitate sex racket in their houses, hotels and beauty parlours in the twin cities.
