As part of its drive against crimes, the Commissionerate police on Thursday arrested seven dreaded criminals while they were planning to launch a major offensive in the city.
“A team of Markat Nagar police around Thursday afternoon raided a hideout behind a local petrol pump and nabbed the gang, including its leader Bijay Sahu (26) of the nearby Banki locality,” said Cuttack DCP Sanjiv Arora.
He said all the arrested have cases pending against them in the Banki, Nayagarh and city Cantonment police stations. The police also seized a revolver, two live ammunition, a dagger, a motorcycle, two cell phones and a camera from their possession. Arora said the modus operandi of the gang was to move around at deserted places equipped with lethal weapons in search of their potential targets. “Finding the opportune moment, the gang would either commit burglary or robbery,” he said.
