A day after Arthatatwa (AT) Group chief Pradeep Sethy was caught on camera talking over a mobile phone, the SCB Medical College Hospital authorities here on Wednesday decided to discharge him from the hospital with immediate effect.

Sethy, who was arrested in 2013 for his alleged key role in the chit fund scam in the State, was admitted in the hospital after he made an attempt to commit suicide at the Jharpada jail of Bhubaneswar on August 1 by cutting the vein of his hand.

Although Sethy had recovered from the mental trauma in the Mental Health Institute of the SCB hospital, he was admitted in the Plastic Surgery Department for a minor surgery. “He is recuperating and would be discharged soon,” informed the hospital authorities.

Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi has suspended the Constable accompanying Sethy while he was speaking over phone in the hospital premises. An inquiry has been ordered into the whole incident, sources said.

This is for the second time that Sethy was caught on camera while in custody. He had also allegedly given a telephonic interview to a TV channel which is also under Probe. It is also alleged that Sethy enjoys a lavish life despite being in custody.

On Tuesday, Sethy was again spotted in the hospital talking over telephone with the Constable, his escort guard, walking along. Seeing mediapersons recording his activities, he immediately passed on the mobile phone to the Constable and rebuked the cameramen for hounding him.
