Congress leader Navajyoti Patnaik has demanded for establishment of a Revenue Divisional Commission (RDC) office at Baleswar for effective management of the revenue related issues. He has written a letter in this connection to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik as well as Revenue Minister Sudam Marndi.
He said that currently there were three RDC offices, one for western Odisha at Sambalpur, one at Brahmapur for southern districts and one at Cuttack for rest of all. He further said that since Keonjhar came under RDC Sambalpur, it is very tedious as well as expensive for the residents of the district to travel 200 km to attend the office. Similarly for the people of Mayurbhanj, it is an arduous task to go to the RDC office at Cuttack. Hence, there should be an office of RDC at Baleswar for the people of five districts, including Baleswar, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur and Keonjhar, said Patnaik in his letter.
Justifying his demand, Patnaik further mentioned that Baleswar is well connected and easily accessible to the people of these five districts, besides law relating to land reforms and tenancy can conveniently be resolved as courts are within their reach.
It would also expedite the disposal of revenue related cases and all matters including grant of pension, gratuity, death cum retirement benefits and other issues which require RDC intervention, he told.
