The Shree Jagannath Bhakta Sammilani has condemned a decision of a union of servitors, Jagannath Sevayat Sammillani, to lock the Puri Jagannath Temple.
Subhendu Rath described the decision as sacrilegious and advised the servitors to render their services sincerely instead of resorting to agitation. He questioned the authority of the servitors to lock the Shreemandir.
“The servitors should put their grievances before the State Government for redressal,” Rath suggested, warning that his outfit would strongly protest if the servitors lock the temple.
The members of the Gurujan Parishad also criticised the activity of the servitors. The servitors should be serious about their duties, said Gurujana Parishad secretary general Dr Sadananda Dixit. They should cooperate for the temple’s development instead, he added.
