Demanding reopening of the Shree Jagannath Temple here for devotees, senior servitor Damodar Pradhani Mahasuar and his associates staged a dharna in front of the temple at Singhadwar on Tuesday. Mahasuar questioned the decision of the State Government to keep the temple closed even as the Central Government has permitted the reopening of temples across the country. He suggested that devotees be allowed to visit the temple with adherence to the Covid-19 guidelines.
The State Government decided for closure of the Shreemandir in March this year due to the Covid-19 outbreak. The temple has remained closed since then.
Only servitors are being allowed to enter the temple for performing rituals of the deities.
