Serological, antigen tests in Ganjam demanded

The Bharatiya Bikash Parishad led by its State president Surendra Panigrahi has submitted a memorandum to the Governor and the Chief Minister expressing its serious concern over delay in conduct of serological and antigen test of the suspected coronavirus patients in Ganjam district.

Even though nearly 30% of the Covid-19 patients identified in the State are from Ganjam, the Government is going to start both serological and antigen test first in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar ignoring Brahmapur, which is the epicentre of Covid-19 patients in the State, the Parishad alleged.

The Government should have given priority in introducing new and advanced technologies for testing more Covid-19 patients in those districts where the number of patients is high, Panigrahi said. This is a clear indicator of the State Government’s apathy and step motherly attitude towards Ganjam district, he alleged.

Panigrahi pointed out that out of 10,097 total covid-19 patients identified in the State so far, Ganjam district alone has 2,621 patients.

Similarly, the total death toll of Covid-19 patients in the State is 42 out of which Ganjam accounts for 22 which is more than  50% of the total, the memorandum pointed out.
