Gitamani Mishra (70), a widow of nearby Harichandi Sahi, in a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Pantaik on Tuesday, demanded rescue of her minor granddaughter, who has been abducted.
She explained to the CM her trauma of not getting much help from any officials or police despite approaching them several times.
Raising serious doubt over the safety of her granddaughter in last two months, the widow sought the CM’s intervention to save the motherless girl from captivity of a 35-year youth.
The widow has charged that her granddaughter is a heart
patient and in captivity somewhere outside the city with knowledge of
police. Rather than rescuing the girl and putting the kidnapper
behind the bar, police were putting pressure on her family for marriage with the kidnapper, said Gitamani.
She told that in last two months, she has already knocked at the doors of the Puri SP and lastly the DGs, but none has come to the rescued of the girl.
In last two months, police have only harassed her calling to police station repeatedly, alleged she.
As per her complaint, the case dates back to July 29 when the 15-year-old girl was found missing from home in early morning. She is a Plus Two student of a private college in Puri. After being confirmed of her abduction by Somanath Rana (35) of a nearby street, her family lodged a complaint the same day with the Town police and sought rescue of the girl besides stringent action against the accused.
Finding no action from the Town police, the family wrote to the SP on August 26 and also met the ASP. But that too did not work. So, the girl’s grandmother wrote to the CM as she suspects the safety of the girl.
Putting out an audio conversation with the ‘Mo Sarkar’ helpline of the Home Department, the girl’s father alleged that police from top to bottom are shielding the accused.
