An elderly man and his family of Sundargarh district have been running to the Sundargarh district administration for last 17 years to get compensation in lieu of their land but in vain. After not getting compensation, he had also submitted a writ petition in the Orissa High Court during the year 2016.According to sources, Sudarsan Naik (70), an elderly tribal man of Duduka village under Hemgiri block, had 45 decimal land in his name.
Sources said, during the year 2003, a bypass road behind the house of Sudarsan was made for which 11 decimal land of Sudarsan was acquired and thereafter the bypass road was used.
The Mahanadi Coalfield Limited, situated at Hemgiri, has also been using that road for coal transportation and other vehicles are also moving on the road.
After acquiring the land of Sudarsan, the district administration did not pay compensation amount. After being denied of compensation, Sudararsan and his family members requested the Collector of Sundargarh at different times but with little result.
Finally, Sudarsan had given a writ petition in the Orissa HC during the year 2016 and the court had reportedly given verdict in favour of Sudarsan and had asked the then Collector of Sundargarh for complying within three months but still Sudarsan did not get compensation.
Later, he filed contempt case in the HC against the Collector and took to the streets but his legitimate dues were still not released in his favour by the administration.
