One person died and five others sustained injuries due to electricity shock following a sudden hike in the voltage at Bhuliapara in the Jharsuguda OSAP area on Monday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Sepoy Pramod lakra (37). When he was switching off his TV, a sudden surge in voltage in the line caused an electrical shock, under which impact he fainted on the floor. lakra was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The five others received electric shocks through appliances like TV, fridge and washing machines.
OSAP Commandant Md Zahid said the incidents occurred due to high voltage supply as a transformer exploded. A case has been lodged in the Jharsuguda police station in this regard.
