Senior citizens are facing multiple difficulties. Along with old-age ailments, they are facing lots of harassments being neglected by their own families, said speakers here.
They are neither a liability on their family nor on the Government. On the other hand, they have a vast experience which was either underutilized or not utilized due to several factors.
Therefore, the Government should take measures to protect their self respect, social and financial security, they opined in a meeting which was organized on the eve of observation Senior Citizen Day by the Senior Citizens’ Forum here.
Sub Collector Ramchandra Palta, additional SP Santosh Nayak , educationist Prahallad Mohanty and Ramakanta Nayak joined as guests on the occasion. Besides admitting neglect and apathy towards the senior citizens, they opined that joint family concept and respect and care from family would mitigate most of their problems.
Girsh Dash, Baidyanath Sarangi and lamxidhar Behera, among others, highlighted the problems and plights of senior citizens.
