Speakers in a meeting at Tata Ariana here highlighted the achievements of elderly people in families, communities and the nation. The meeting presided over by Bhaskar Misra was addressed by Prasanna Kumar Das, Federation of Odisha Senior Citizens’ Association joint secretary RK Samantray and Nodal Officer of Tamando police station RN Pujahari.
Das stressed the need of formation of senior citizens’ associations in micro level for mutual help. Samantray explained its modus operandi and encouraged to form an official association. Pujahari referred to the benefits provided by Government to senior citizens and its commitment to help them.
The speakers unfolded their wealth of knowledge, skill and experience for the benefit of the next generation. Even as technologies advance, the senior citizens have experienced each step of the change. Not only have they contributed to it but they understand firsthand the benefits and the drawbacks. They know life without the advancements that exist today.
