The controversial 1982-batch senior IAS officer Prafulla Chandra Mishra, who was recently denied promotion to the rank of Chief Secretary for his alleged involvement in various questionable cases, has invited a fresh trouble by not disclosing an immovable property worth nearly Rs 1 crore in his statement of immovable property return in his property return for the year ending 2012 as on December 31, 2012 to the State Government.

According to sources, Mishra had reportedly purchased a flat (number A-72, 7th floor) and two parking spaces in Utkal Royal Residency at 77, Goutam Nagar area in Bhubaneswar, at a cost of Rs 81,66,324 in 2009 and made investment for interior decoration by spending more than Rs 20 lakh, hence making an investment of more than Rs 1 crore. But it was not reflected in his property return for the year ending 2012.

The sources said Mishra on July 8, 2009 had given a CITI Bank cheque of Rs 2 lakh to the Utkal Builders for a residential flat in Utkal Royal Residency. On the same day, the Utkal Builders allotted the provisional allotment of a flat (number A-72, 7th floor) and two parking spaces in Utkal Royal Residency and the total cost of the flat as mentioned by the agency including electrical installation charges and municipality and other charges was Rs 81,66,324.

As per Mishra’s property return for the year ending 2012, there are three plots of land at Baripada. While two plots were owned by his wife another plot was inherited by his father. Similarly, he had a land of worth Rs 4.50 lakh at Basuaghai under Bhubaneswar Tehshil.
