A State-level seminar on “Safety and security of women in society” was organised by the Barsa Sowny Foundation here on Sunday. Attending the seminar several speakers, including District Collector Sanatan Mallick, Integrated Testing Range (ITR), Chandipur Additional Director Dr Binay Das and social worker Tapasi Praharaj opined that the women should be given proper education which would not only bring awareness among them regarding various laws meant for their protection and security but also they can prove at par with men and be independent.
The speakers also stated that education will facilitate in strengthening their self-confidence level while their independent mind could enrich the society, besides their own security. Senior lawyer Raghunth Pradhan said the ill mentality persons were taking the advantages of the flaws in laws. Poet Prasant Das and Barsa Swony Choudhury also spoke at the seminar. The Collector also inaugurated the north zone office of the foundation on the occasion.
