The Kosal Kranti Dal (KKD), which is spearheading a movement for a separate Kosal State out of Odisha, has elected a tribal leader, Bunde Dhurua, as its new president and introduced an advisory council by making necessary amendments in its constitution at its Foundation Day Maha Sammelan held at Sundargarh.
This was informed by KKD working president Baidyanath Mishra at Rourkela on Sunday. The advisory council has been made powerful to maintain a check and balance system in the party, said Mishra. Earlier, he had introduced and explained the amendments brought in for concurrence of the Maha Sammelan. KKD secretary general Purna Chandra Naik presented the organisational report and the then working president Bunde Dhurua the political report and the then president Pramod Mishra inaugurated the conference.
Instead of asking for Special Category State status for Odisha, the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD Government should recommend new Statehood for Kosalanchal as per Article 2/3 of the Constitution, Mishra said. It is the only alternative of growth for the backward western region, he argued.
KKD new president Bunde Dhurua is an erstwhile leader of the BJP who joined the KKD a couple of years back. A new body of central leadership would be chosen shortly under his tutelage. Pramod Mishra has been elevated as the chairman of the advisory council with absolute power under his control vested on him through a new article added to the party constitution.
