In the aftermath of the shocking Ryan International School incident in Gurugram in Haryana, in which an eight-year old boy Pradyumna Thakur was found murdered recently, the State School and Mass Education Department on Thursday issued a host of guidelines for the schools in Odisha.
“We have issued some guidelines for a safe and secure environment in the schools. Vendors selling food items will not be allowed inside the school premises. Visitors going inside the school campus will have to reveal their identity to the school authorities,” said School and Mass Education Secretary Ranjana Chopra.
The parents have to produce their identity proof for entry to the school premises. Besides the duration for which he or she stays inside the school premises will be monitored,” added Chopra.
“There should be an attendant from the school in the school bus to keep an eye on the children. Police verification of bus drivers, cleaners and contractual staff of schools should be done,” she said.
“Junior students shouldn’t be allowed to washroom without supervision and there should be separate toilets for staff and students,” Chopra added.
