A day after the Odisha Sachivalaya Seva Sangha protested in front of the office of the Chief Secretary demanding immediate publication of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) list, the SC/ST employees of the Secretariat on Thursday staged a demonstration, demanding that the DPC be scrapped.
The SC/ST employees alleged that while workers of general quota get promoted to posts of Desk Officer and Under-Secretary, they don’t get the benefit.
Members of the SC/ST Workers’ Association on Thursday tried to meet the Chief Minister to discuss the issue. Things, however, turned ugly at the Secretariat when the police didn’t allow them to meet the Chief Minister. Consequently, the SC/ST staff body staged a dharna. Extra forces were deployed to keep the situation under control.
