With the second phase of the Budget session of the State Assembly beginning on Thursday after a recess of nine days, both the Opposition and ruling BJD are bracing up for resumed fireworks. They have sharpened their strategies for the remaining 20 days of the session.
While the Congress and BJP are set to raise issues of all-round failure of the Naveen Patnaik Government and mining scam, the BJD would try to neutralise the attack by raising its pet issue of the "step-motherly" attitude of the Centre towards the State in the Railway Budget, frequent rise in petroleum product pries and Andhra Pradesh's Polavaram irrigation project.
On the first day, the chairmen of the departmental standing committees would present their reports of the scrutiny of the 21 departments for discussion and passage in the House. Three Bills are to be presented in the House in this phase of the session.
