The State Election Commission (SEC) on Thursday said all the voters of the State would henceforth be provided with genuine voters’ slips instead of ‘chirikuti’ during lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
Talking to mediapersons, SEC Ajit Kumar Tripathy said a voter’s slip will have the name of the concerned voter and the booth where he or she will exercise franchise.
Sources said the SEC took decision acting on complaints that alleged the political parties always tried to woo the voters while distributing chirikutis among the voters, mostly in the night just before the election day.
