The Dhenkanal district administration on Monday imposed Section 144 at the main gate of the Bhushan Steels limited (BSl) near Kantabania of Dhenkanal district and evicted the demonstrators, including BJP leaders former MP Rudra Narayan Pany, Bhushan Majdoor Sangha president lulu Amanta and Dhenkanal BJP president Naresh Mohapatra. They were detained at Bhushan Police Station.
It seemed that by evicting the protesters, the district administration wants to allow the management to operate the plant smoothly. Hundreds of demonstrators had been sitting on a dharna since last Wednesday when the mishap took place in the second blast furnace of the plant, demanding stern action against the management of the BSl.
Senior BJP leader Bijay Mohapatra and Congress leader Narasingha Mishra have demanded arrest of the company’s MD under the NSA, besides CBI probe into the blast on November 13. The probes conducted by an expert team and the Director of Factory and Boiler are still on.
