In a major jolt to senior Congress leader and former MP Pradip Majhi, his father Jagannath Majhi has reportedly received lakhs of rupees from the tainted chit fund company Seashore Group.
According to reports, a total of `35 lakh was transferred to Jagannath’s SBI account in phases in 2011. The money was transferred by Seashore Agricultural Promotion Company Pvt ltd, a sister unit of Seashore Group of Companies.
Further, one Satya also transferred around Rs 1 crore to Jagannath’s Umarkote SBI branch account in 2010 raising suspicions.
Meanwhile, the former MP’s father said he had only business relations with the Seashore Agricultural Promotion Company Pvt ltd since he is a maize grower.
“I cultivate maize in around 40 acres of land. The amount was given for maize cultivation. I don’t know what chit fund money is,” said the senior Congress leader’s father.
