The Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court here on Friday allowed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to produce chit fund company Seashore Group CMD Prashant Dash before Khordha Sessions Court on October 28.

The ED, which is also probing the chit fund scam, had moved the Sessions Court on September 19 seeking Dash’s remand to trace the money trail of deposits collected by the company.

The Sessions Court had directed the Superintendent of the Jeypore jail, where Dash is currently lodged, to produce him before it.

Notably, Dash was arrested from Mumbai on June 19 last year and has been implicated in 37 cheating cases in various police stations across the State.

In a related case, a CBI team on Friday evening quizzed Minerals and Metals Trading Corporation (MMTC) Bhubaneswar branch manager Gajendra Patra over the gold trading between the corporation and the Seashore Group.

The CBI sleuths asked Patra whether there was any illegality in the purchase of gold by the Seashore Group from the MMTC, sources said.

Patra said the MMTC, a public sector company, had delivered around 150 kg to 200 kg of gold to the Seashore Group following proper documentation during 2011-12.

Notably, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the State Crime Branch on November 1 last year had recovered only 1.385 kg gold and 1,000 silver coins of the Seashore group from its HDFC Bank lockers.
