Kendrapara SP Satish Kumar Gajbhiye on Wednesday sought a clarification from the Commandant of Coast Guard, Paradip on the mid sea firing last Monday night. The Coast Guard personnel while patrolling in the sea off the Gahirmatha coast under “Operation Olivia” had shot at a fishing trawler that had entered into the sea illegally for catching fish leading to injury of one and arrest of eight fishers.
According to Gajbhiye, the condition of the injured fisherman Ranjit who is undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack is critical. He has received two bullets pierced into his body. On Wednesday, the SP and the District Magistrate of Kendrapada submitted a detailed inquiry report to the Home department on the firing incident.
