The Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Court here recently rejected a counter petition filed by Jagatsinghpur Congress MlA Chiranjeev Biswal praying for a relieve from the false affidavit case filed by Bishnu Das, who was the BJD contestant for the MlA seat in the 2014 elections.

With this, the Court accepted to adjudicate the petition of Das and put the same on trail. Biswal cited that the case filed by Das was of no merit for trail as the latter had filed a false and fabricated case.

Report said former MlA Das, who lost 2014 Assembly elections to Biswal, had filed a 1cc case in the SDJM Court quoting that Biswal had filed false information on properties, bank accounts and income during filing of nomination papers before the Returning Officer.

The Court registered a case bearing No 565/ 2014.

Meanwhile, Biswal filed a petition under section 251of the CrPC seeking disposal of the case filed against him.

On Monday, the Court heard the matter from both parties and dismissed Biswal’s petition and put the original 1cc case on trail for adjudication.

Senior lawyers Pitambar Acharya and Pitambar Panda attended for Biswal and Salil Ghose and S\P Swain represented Bishnu Das.
