In a startling revelation, Kavita Mahakud, who claims to be the daughter-in-law of Champua Independent MlA Sanatan Mahakud, on Wednesday alleged that the State Commission for Women (SCW) had asked her to settle the harassment case she has filed against her in-laws by taking money.
“With a lot of hope, I had knocked at the door of the SCW for justice. But SCW Chairperson lopamudra Buxipatra herself asked me to settle the case by taking money,” said Kavita to Otv.
However, one of the SCW members strongly refuted the allegations of Kavita and said the hearing of the case is still on. “Whatever will be done will be in accordance with law,” said the SCW member.
On Tuesday, Kavita had lodged an FIR of physical and mental harassment against the crorepati MlA Mahakud and his son-in-law Dinabandhu Barik.
A case under Sections 498 A, 341, 294 and 34 of the IPC has also been registered at the Mahila police station here in this connection.
Kavita has been claiming that she tied the knot with the MlA’s eldest son Pankaj in 2012 after separating from her first husband Debasis Mahakud. The couple was living in Motu of Malkangiri district after marriage.
She alleged that since Sanatan Mahakud was not in favour of her marriage with Pankaj, he forcibly took Pankaj to Champua in August 2015 and has kept him confined there since then.
