A media workshop on the skill development in writing as well as presentation of news was held here on Wednesday. It was organised by the Odisha District Journalists Affiliated Welfare Trust. Assembly Deputy Speaker Sananda Marandi, MP Baijayant Panda, Remuna MlA Sudarsan Jena, scribe Dillip Satpathy and Amresh Biswal were, among others, participated in discussion. Columnist Pradosh Pattnaik presided.
Various issues such identification of scribes, remuneration, Government welfare measures and pension benefits for the working journalists were discussed. Speakers expressed concern over the fact that despite operating under adverse conditions, working journalists, mainly the rural-based ones, are deprived of minimum facilities. In the second session, discussions were madeon writing and presenting news under the present socio-political scenario.
