The Talcher Working Journalists’ Association observed the National Press Day on November 16 and felicitated a host of eminent persons in the field of journalism, media education, social service and public relations etc.
The function entitled the ‘Fourth Pillar Award Ceremony’ was inaugurated by chief guest Printer and Publisher of The Samaj Niranjan Rath. Among others, Dhenkanal IIMC head Mrinal Chatterjee, local MlA Braja Kishore Pradhan, Sub Collector Shyama Bhakta Mishra and Municipality Chairman Pabitra Bhutia attended as guests.
The persons honoured on the occasion included Niranjan Rath (life Time Achievement Award), Manas Ranjan Sahoo from OTV (Journalist Icon Award), Ashirbad Rout from Dharitri, (Star New Comer Award), Mrinal Chatterjee (Educationalist Award), Subrat Dash of Sambad (Media Revolution Award), Shakti Sai Mishra of Focus TV (Star Anchor Award), Manoj Mishra of Zee Kalinga (Video Journalist Award), Devi Mishra, of The Samaja, senior journalist Surya Deo (Sambad Gourav Award), Samal Care, Banarpal (Public Service Award) and NTPC, Kaniha, JSPl, Angul, Nalco, Angul, MCl, Talcher (CSR Excellence Award).
Earlier on November 15, the association held a plantation and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan drive, while on the November 16 morning a blood donation camp was organised in association with the local Red Cross blood bank. Around 42 units of blood were collected. Association president Aarta Pani and secretary Dhir Mohan Ray, besides a string of members,coordinated the programme.
